Science was really fun today!

What an awesome day we had homeschooling today! We got up and did our Math, Language, Vocabulary, etc., and then took off with our friends, the "Orcs" ,as Summer calls them (a.k.a. the Yorks LOL) to a Reptile Rescue Show. To be honest, the audience was very rude and disruptive, but we were able to enjoy the show in spite of them. My kids were truly shocked that the other children were so disrespectful to the speaker. It was an eye-opener for them. (Plus they got to experience their first smelly, hot, packed public school gymnasium!) Anyway, I think Summer Rose enjoyed it as much as the boys.

How to identify a copperhead? It has "Hershey's Kisses" on its body.

Water Moccasins (also known as Cotton Mouths) are venomous, but not aggressive.

The deadly timber rattlesnake! I forgot how many he said, but way too many rattlesnake bites in Georgia for me!

A good time was had by all!

This past weekend we gathered with friends for a "Titanic 100" party. Although we had lots of fun with our theme, we did take a moment to solemnly remember that, although the Lord is pleased when man takes dominion and explores his creation through science and technology, He is not to be mocked by foolish declarations like "The Titanic is a ship that God couldn't sink".

We let the women and children eat first (naturally...and this was NOT popular with the guys LOL). We played a rousing game of "lifesavers" (a.k.a. "washers"), had a shipmates dash (a.k.a. "3 legged race"), and had iceberg floats for dessert. I'm so thankful that the Lord has allowed our family to be surrounded by such wonderful friends.

Needless to say, everyone slept well Saturday night!

Why do I homeschool?

I love the company and fellowship it allows
I've learned more since I graduated than I ever learned in school. If I can just pass on a love of learning and a good work ethic, they'll be fit for whatever the Lord has in store for them
At 7 hours per day (conservative estimate), for 180 days per year, that's 1,260 hours per year, times 13 years, equals 16,380 hours of their childhood that would be spent under government supervision. The Bible says, "Children obey your parents [NOT UNCLE SAM] in the Lord." God gave them to me, not the U.S. government. How can I expect them to embrace my ideals and my faith, when I let someone else hold a position of respect and authority over them for 16,380 hours of their childhood?

I can never forget how my own faith was shaken by teachers whom I greatly respected
Age segregation is something foreign. Playmates come in all ages and sizes, boys or girls, and some of my children's best friends are adults.
It is so much fun!
My children pity the fools and scoffers who believe evolution
We study real history, not the revised politically correct version
FIELD TRIPS!
My kids don't even know what a "nerd" is, and believe me, they would be labeled "nerds" in public school. Nor does either of them know a curse word, and they think a dirty joke has something to do with passing gas.
I don't have to wonder if some pervert is having his/her way with my babies while I'm not there to protect them
I can control my children's environment, keeping their hearts and minds pure for the work of the Lord
NOTE TO OTHER HOMESCHOOL PARENTS: All of the above reasons are completely NULL and VOID if you give your child a laptop or computer and hours of private, unsupervised access to the internet. He or she would be better off in public school.
